Artifact 1 - Lesson Plan (Shot Composition)
This artifact is an example of one lesson that I taught to a group of students in my time spent at Rocky Mountain High School. In this lesson, I made sure to address the different learning styles of students in order to reach all learners effectively. I feel that I was attentive to detail in this lesson and was sure to plan in regards to these details. I provided students with visual and written definitions of each concept, along with giving students the option to view these composition concepts on their own time, in case they needed to review definitions. Also, I provided a few ways in which I would differentiate or accommodate students in case they needed it. For the most part, students didn't need these accommodations, but it was very good practice to consider how to accommodate or differentiate a lesson. The data that I received from students in this lesson reflected that they all mostly gained a solid understanding of these composition principles and how to apply them in artwork.
Artifact 2 - Management Plan
In this document, I explored how I would personally build a classroom community that every one of my learners will feel comfortable and be able to learn in. I discussed how to facilitate materials in an organized way that is conducive to a community studio space; everyone in the class should have equal opportunity to use the materials and tools they need for their artwork. I also addressed non-instructional routines that will be used in my classroom in order for students to be able to express their feelings, and for me to gauge as a whole how my students are doing. One other thing I addressed in this document was how I will give students feedback on their performance to facilitate improvement and growth from every student. The main thing I emphasized in this plan was creating a space where all students are respected; in my art classroom students are encouraged to express themselves and other people should not inhibit this expression in a negative way.
Artifact 3 - Data Analysis
This document illustrates what I will do to reach all students so that they are able to learn and succeed in my classroom. In this analysis document, I looked at how every student in my class performed in relation to the lesson standards and whether or not they met expectations or aren't quite there yet. I also considered strategies that I will do in order to push my higher achieving students even higher, supplement the students in the middle to continue their growth and development, and reach the students who didn't meet expectations and support them in getting them to a deeper level of understanding. This document demonstrates the ways in which I will address all of the students in my classroom, no matter their understanding of the content being taught.
Reflection
Based on these artifacts and personal reflection, I feel that in regards to this standard I am currently proficient. I am currently doing everything in my power to reach all of the learners in my classroom and creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable and is respected. I explore various ways in which I can differentiate and accommodate the students in my class often in my preparation and planning. It is my goal as an educator to create an environment where learning is fun, yet challenging, for all students. To progress even higher in this standard, I feel that I need to explore various, and more creative ways that I can accommodate all of my students.
